Nur so als Tip am Rande (vielleicht ist's ja auch schon
ein alter Hut für Dich): 5-current hat per Default die
Option »J« für malloc() eingeschaltet. Je nach Software
kann das deutlich auf die Performance drücken. Kann man
per /etc/malloc.conf -> j ausschalten (kleines »j«!).

Daß man INVARIANTS, DIAGNOSTIC u.ä. aus dem Kernel nehmen
sollte, wenn man -current »produktiv« einsetzen möchte und
nicht an Debugging interessiert ist, weiß Du sicherlich
schon. Ich erwähn's nur der Vollständigkeit halber, falls
jemand anderes ebenfalls suboptimale Perfoemance hat.
