Dieses Phänomen hatte ich mal bei einem schwächelndem RAM-
Riegel. Kann aber bei Dir natürlich auch ganz etwas ande-
res sein.

Kannst Du denn das System dann über den Single-user-Mode
hochbringen? Funktionieren andere CPU- und/oder Speicher-
intensive Tätigkeiten, z.B. Compilieren eines Kernels?

Wenn das geht, dann würde ich eher doch nicht auf ein Pro-
blem mit der Hardware tippen; höchstens mit der Festplatte
und/oder dem ATA/IDE-Controller.
