Hallo,

habe mich gerade auch auf die Suche gemacht.

Laut http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/155/02/2.html:

FFS/UFS
FFS was the default file system shipped with SVR4, and the name has now
been changed to UFS.

Und options(4) von NetBSD:

options COMPAT_10
Enable binary compatibility with NetBSD 1.0. This option allows the use
of the filesystem name of ``ufs'' as an alias for ``ffs''.

Die alte "unixfaq" sagt ->

      FFS (Fast File System): from Berkeley, 1983. Equivalent (exact?) of
      UFS in SunOS. Has notions such as cylinder groups, fragments.

      UFS (?): BSD's native file system as seen in SunOS, blocks 4K to 8K,
         cylinder groups, fragments.

Also ist FFS die Entwicklung von UCB, dass bei Sun in UFS umgetauft wurde
?! :)

Gruß,

Jörg
