Ich kenne kein HOWTO, allerdings habe ich (u.A.) folgende Einträge in
.muttrc:

set allow_8bit # never do Q-P encoding on legal 8-bit chars
set charset="iso-8859-1" # character set for your terminal

Ich glaube, dass das ausreichend ist.

Wie oben zu erkennen, ISO 8859-1. Ich habe bisher andere Tools für
UTF-8 nicht richtig einstellen können. Möglicherweise kann jemand
auch darüber Auskunft geben.
