Interessant. Ich nahm an, daß der Loader einfach den In-
halt der rootdev-Variablen an den Kernel weiterreicht (via
vfs.root.mountfrom, sofern nicht manuell per loader.conf
gesetzt).

Aber tatsächlich schaut er auf der Partition, die rootdev
angibt, nach, ob es darin eine Datei /etc/fstab gibt, und
wenn ja, parst er sie, um den root-Mount herauszufinden,
und übergibt dann diesen in vfs.root.mountfrom. Das hat
offenbar den Vorteil, daß das root-Dateisystem von einer
ganz anderen Partition (oder sogar von einer anderen Fest-
platte) kommen kann als die, von der der Bootloader gestar-
tet wurde. Also ganz ähnlich wie die Trennung des /boot-
Dateisystems bei Linux.

Man lernt nie aus. :-)
