Ich mische mich ja ungern ein, aber nach meiner Erfahrung
geht das Downloaden und Auspacken des Ports-Trees als tar-
Datei _erheblich_ schneller als ein Anonymous-CVS-Lauf (und
schont serverseitige Resourcen) -- Zumindest wenn man eine
ausreichend schnelle Verbindung hat (DSL, Kabel, Satellit,
was auch immer).

Wenn man nur ein langsames Modem hat, mag das natürlich
etwas anders aussehen. Das ist aber kein Grund, das Down-
loaden eines tar-Files pauschal zu verteufeln. Man muß das
schon etwas differenzierter betrachten.
