Also ich habs nun eben nochmal normal installiert. Kein
branden, nix. Als root hab ich setup -n gemacht. Das ging
ohne Probleme, dann hab ich als User setup gestartet
und ich konnte auch die Workstation-Variante durchfuehren.
INstallation ging problemlos. aber als ich dann soffice starten
wollte ist es abgekackt:

[mh(at)free.bsd.net ~/OpenOffice/] -> ./soffice
Abort trap (core dumped)

Was nun? :-/
