Fetchmail und socket error

Hallo,

wenn ich mit Fetchmail versuche meine eMails abzurufen bekomme ich
neuerdings folgende Fehlermeldung:

fetchmail: socket error while fetching from mail.xxx.
fetchmail: Query status=SOCKET
fetchmail: normal termination¸ status 2

Wo fange ich mit der Fehlersuche an? Mein System FreeBSD 4.0 von
Lehmanns und Fetchmail 5.3.0
