Ich hätte ja normalerweise gesagt, ``man 4 fxp'', aber die man page
ist etwas dürftig. Ah, sie ist auch nicht vom Autor des Treibers,
sondern separat geschrieben worden.

fxp(4) macht offenbar in der Tat auto-negotiation:

                /*
                 * If link0 is set, disable auto-negotiation and then:
                 * If link1 is unset = 10Mbps
                 * If link1 is set = 100Mbps
                 * If link2 is unset = half duplex
                 * If link2 is set = full duplex
                 */
