CD-Rom wird nicht erkannt

Hi

Ich hab hier eine Box mit FreeBSD 5.4-Stable.
Das CD-Rom wird hier vom Bios erkannt und ich kann auch davon booten.

Sobald jedoch der Kernel die Kontrolle übernimmt erkennt er das CD-Rom
nicht mehr. Das war schon beim Installieren mit dem Default Kernel auf
der CD so und ist jetzt, mit einem selbsgebauten Kernel immer noch so.
Die Installation hab ich notgedrungen übers Netz durchgeführt.

Leider hab ich keine Ahnung woran das liegen könnte. Ich hab schon
umgejumpert und die Kabel getauscht. Das CD-Rom selbst funktioniert
unter Linux und, in einem anderen Rechner unter Windows, tadellos. Nun
bin ich etwas ratlos, woran könnte das liegen?
