Das ist jetzt nur Spekulation, aber könnte es mit dem UFS2
in FreeBSD 5 zusammenhängen? Dort wurde dump entsprechend
aufgebohrt, um die zusätzlichen Attribute sichern zu können.
Unter FreeBSD 4, wo Dein Amanda-Server läuft, wird dies dann
möglicherweise nicht als gültiger dump erkannt.

(Das war jetzt aber nur geraten, da ich keine gemischte Um-
gebung mit Amanda + FreeBSD 4 und 5 habe.)
