XF86-4 mit 3com EtherLink III

Hallo,
erst mal Entschuldigung falls ich diese Mail 2 gesendet habe.
Ich habe FreeBSD 5.1 mit den Disketteb übers Internet auf meinen Rechner,
ein Compaq Deskpro EP mit i810e GFX onboard, installiert. Dann habe ich den
Kernel (mit Sound, AGP, ...) neu übersetzt, XFree86-4 aus den Ports
installiert und mit xf86cfg alles konfiguriert.
Allerdings wenn ich "startx" eingebe passiert nix, es wird sogar keine
Log-Datei in /var/log/ angelegt. Wenn ich den xdm in /etc/ttys einschalte,
startet dieser auch aber beim Eingeben von Benutzernamen und Passwort
verschwindet das Eingabefeld und das wars.
Ich habe auch schon eine Matrox Mystique aus einem anderen Rechner ausgebaut
(onboard GFX vom Compaq im BIOS deaktiviert) und dessen XF86Config benutzt,
mit gleichen Resultat.
Wo liegt mein Fehler, wenigstens der twm müsste doch nach
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc starten.
Als ich die Netzwerkkarte, eine 3com EtherLink III (ISA) ausgebaut habe,
lief alles normal und auch X startet richtig. Habe meine XF86Config und ein
dmesg mit eingebauter Netzwerkkarte angehängt.
