Compaq evo n610c und apm /ACPI

Habe gerade mein Dienstnotebook mit dem leidigen Thema apm etc. am
wickel.

Primaeres Problem: Ich moechte u.a. den Akkustatus auslesen, welches ja
normalerweise ueber apm erfolgt. (FreeBSD 4.8)

Aber:
pris 12:32 >apm -a
apm: can't open /dev/apm: Device not configured

ein cd /dev && sh MAKEDEV apm brachte da genau gar nix.

Anscheinend hat Compaq da einige Eigenwilligkeiten drin, Kollege hat
das gleiche Teil unter 5.1R, da musste ACPI abgeschaltet werden...

Interessanterweise funktioniert dieses unter Knoppix 3.2 mit Kernel
2.4.21-xfs

Irgendwelche Vorschlaege, oder aehnliche Erfahrungen?
