Theoretisch schon ... Ist aber mit etwas Bastelei verbun-
den. Ich würde das einem Anfänger nicht unbedingt als er-
ste Lösung ans Herz legen.

Macht aber nichts; das root-Dateisystem braucht ja nicht
besonders groß zu sein. 100 Mbyte werden genügen (voraus-
gesetzt, /var, /tmp, /usr und /home sind separat vom root-
Dateisystem).

Man kann sich auch einen Kernel auf CD-R oder -RW brennen
und davon booten (vorausgesetzt, das BIOS kann von CD-ROM
booten); in der Kernel-Konfiguration gibt es eine Einstell-
möglichkeit, mit der man festlegen kann, von wo er sich
das root-Dateisystem holen soll. Erfordert aber auch ein
kleines bißchen Handarbeit.

Wenn Du ohnehin eine IDE-Platte drin hast, auf der Du ca.
100 Mbyte entbehren kannst, ist es wirklich das einfachste,
dort das root-Dateisystem hinzutun.
