Versuchs mal mit de_DE.ISO8859-1 (lies, ISO in Großbuchstaben) als
Wert für $LANG. Außerdem muß in /etc/ttys der Wert cons25 durch
cons25l1 ersetzt werden, wenn Du auf der Console arbeitest.

Klappt hier einwandfrei.
