Offenbar versucht Mozilla, irgendwas auf dem Netz zu machen,
wenn es verfügbar ist. Scheinbar funktioniert es nicht und
führt zu einem Timeout. Hast Du einen Paketfilter (ipfw)
laufen? Wenn kein Netz da ist (ppp aus), versucht er's of-
fenbar gar nicht erst, oder bekommt sofort sowas wie »net-
work unreachable« o.ä., so daß kein Timeout im Spiel ist.

Was er genau zu machen versucht, könntest Du vielleicht mit
tcpdump herausfinden.

(Disclaimer: Ich verwende kein Mozilla, daher ist obiges
nur Spekulation.)
