Aha, Du hast Dein make kaputt gemacht. Entweder hast Du
gmake in make umbenannt, oder einen Link gemacht, oder
sonstwas.
Was sagt bei Dir »which make«?
1) Es sagt »/usr/bin/make«. Dann hast Du das BSD-make mit
GNU-make überschrieben. Lösche es und restaurier es
von einem Backup (sofern vorhanden) oder von Deiner
FreeBSD-CD oder aus dem Netz.
2) Es sagt irgendwas anderes. Dann lösch es einfach nur.
