Newbie: grundsaetzliche Frage zu den Ports

Hallo,

ich haette da mal eine grundsaetzliche Verstaendnisfrage zu den Ports:

muss man jedesmal die Sourcen erst aus dem Netz laden oder ist bei
Distributionen (z.B. bei der neuen 4.5 dt. Ausgabe) auf den CDs
allles noetige mit dabei ??
