Hast Du Deine Netzwerkkarte möglichwerweise falsch eingestellt ?
Ich nehme an, Deine Karte ist eine Combo Karte. Da muß man einstellen,
welchen Anschluß der Netzwerkkarte man verwenden möchte. Ist es das
vielleicht ? Die DSL Modems, die ich bisher gesehen habe, wollten
Twisted Pair Verkablung, also 10baseT.
Siehe meine ifconfig Ausgabe:

fxp0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet 172.16.2.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.2.255
        ether 00:d0:b7:ba:c1:c2
        media: Ethernet autoselect (10baseT/UTP)
                                    ^^^^^^^^

man ifconfig
[..]
media mediaopts
man xl
[..]
The xl driver supports the following media types:
autoselect, 10baseT/UTP, ...

Einzutragen in /etc/rc.conf
ifconfig_fxp0="inet 172.16.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 media 10baseT/UTP"
