Theoretisch muß man nur eine entsprechend große Datei oder
ein Rawdevice mit mmap(..., PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, ...)
mappen. Speicher wird dadurch nicht verbraucht. Ebenso,
wenn man entsprechend viel Speicher mit MAP_ANON oder ein-
fach per malloc() anfordert. Das ist durchaus nichts Unge-
wöhnliches.

Der rpc.rstatd tut das gleiche; er fordert beim Starten
erstmal pauschal 256 Mbyte für seinen Table an:

USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND
root 144 0.0 0.2 263056 492 ?? Is 8Jun01 0:00.00 rpc.statd

Benutzt wird dann aber nur ein sehr kleiner Teil davon.
Und nur dieser belegt dann auch tatsächlich Speicher.
