Files > 2GB auf DAT-Streamer

Hallo,
ich möchte ein tar-Archiv auf einen DAT-Streamer schreiben. Dateien
kleiner 2GB funktionieren problemlos, sobald die Datei grösser als 2GB
wird, bricht das Backup-Kommando (tar oder cpio) ohne Fehlermeldung ab.
Ist da am Kernel etwas zu konfigurieren?

Version: 3.4-RELEASE FreeBSD
