Das sollte überflüssig sein. "device ums" im Kernel,
moused mit "-p /dev/ums0 -t auto" starten, XFree86 mit
"mouse systems protocol" und "/dev/sysmouse" als Device
konfigurieren.

Falls obiges bei nicht funktioniert, liegt es mit hoher
Wahrscheinlichkeit daran, daß sich Deine Maus nicht an
die einschlägigen USB/HID-Standards hält. Würde mich
bei einem Microsoft-Produkt nicht wirklich wundern...
