Problem mit isdnd

Hallo ...

ich hab mir das neuste i4b runtergeladen und alles getan, was in
i4b/FreeBSD/INSTALL und in den docfiles steht: kernel editiert, neu
compiled, config-files editiert etc. Beim bootup bekomm ich auch die
kernel-meldung dass die devices und controller alle eingerichtet wurden:

/kernel: i4b: ISDN call control device attached
/kernel: i4bisppp: 4 ISDN SyncPPP device(s) attached
/kernel: i4bctl: ISDN system control port attached
/kernel: i4bipr: 4 IP over raw HDLC ISDN device(s) attached (VJ header

/kernel: i4btel: 2 ISDN telephony interface device(s) attached
/kernel: i4brbch: 4 raw B channel access device(s) attached
/kernel: i4btrc: 4 ISDN trace device(s) attached

keine Ahnung ob ich irgendwas falsch eingestellt hab, aber ich bekomme
immer wenn ich den isdnd starten will die Fehlermeldung:

isdnd[244]: ERR init_controller: no ISDN controller found!
isdnd[244]: DMN daemon terminating, exitval = 1

der controller ist aber in der config-file eingetragen und wurde auch
vom kernel eingerichtet.
Was mach ich falsch ?
