Genau aus dem grund benutze ich auf meinem Athlon den alten
wd-Treiber, der macht nämlich DMA, kein PIO:

Schreibgeschwindigkeit ist ca. 10 Mbyte/s:
root(at)kiste:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=1m count=128
128+0 records in
128+0 records out
134217728 bytes transferred in 13.028015 secs (10302239 bytes/sec)

Und das kostet ca. 10% CPU (war zu 90% idle).
Ich bin damit zufrieden. :)
