A note to English speaking readers: Below the German part you will
find a translation into English.

Die Adimus GmbH & Co. KG veranstaltet in Zusammenarbeit mit der
Fachhochschule Bochum und dem VDI einen

     Free Un*x Install-a-thon
     ------------------------

Der Install-a-thon findet am Samstag, den 17.4.1999 von 16:00 bis
ca. 20:00 in den Raeumen der Fachhochschule Bochum statt. Da zum
jetzigen Zeitpunkt der Raum fuer die Veranstaltung noch nicht
feststeht, werden wir am Samstag fuer eine ausreichende Beschilderung
sorgen.

Der Install-a-thon bietet allen Interessierten die Gelegenheit, eines
der freien Un*x-aehnlichen Betriebssysteme mit fachkundiger
Unterstuetzung auf dem eigenen Rechner zu installieren. Zur
Verfuegung stehen werden

- OpenBSD 2.3 fuer alle unterstuetzten Plattformen
- OpenBSD 2.4 fuer x86, Sparc und Alpha AXP
- FreeBSD 2.2.8 und 3.1 fuer x86
- NetBSD 1.3.3 fuer alle unterstuetzten Plattformen
- Red Hat Linux 5.2 fuer x86
- Debian 2.1 fuer x86
- Linux Mandrake (fuer x86)

Zusaetzlich werden bei Interesse auch der Free SCO OpenServer 5.0.4
und Free SCO UnixWare (2.1.x und evtl. auch 7.x) zur Verfuegung
stehen. Interessenten fuer die beiden letztgenannten Systeme sollten
sich mit uns im Vorfeld in Verbindung setzen. Selbstverstaendlich
helfen wir auch bei der Installation Ihrer mitgebrachten
Distributionen (z.B. SuSE Linux). Fuer Probleme und Anwendungen
(z.B. Internetzugang konfigurieren, Webserver aufsetzen, etc.), die
ueber die "normale" Installation hinausgehen, stehen
selbstverstaendlich ebenfalls Ansprechpartner zur Verfuegung. Und wer
nur mal FreeBSD, Linux u.s.w. oder eine der kommerziellen Loesungen
sehen und "live" erleben moechte (ApplixWare, Oracle, Star
Office,...), ist ebenfalls herzlich eingeladen, sich mit uns bei einer
Jolt darueber zu unterhalten.

Wir bitten jeden, der seinen Rechner mitbringen moechte, sich im

anzumelden, damit schon im Vorfeld offene Fragen zur Hardware, zur
Ankunftzeit etc. geklaert werden koennen. Jeder angemeldete Teilnehmer
kann sich auf eine nette Ueberraschung freuen ("so lange der Vorrat
reicht").

Adimus GmbH & Co. KG in cooperation with the University of Applied
Sciences in Bochum and the German Society of Engineers is preparing a

   Free UN*X Install-a-thon
   ------------------------

The Install-a-thon is taking place on Saturday, 17th of April from
4:00pm to about 8:00pm at the University of Applied Sciences in
Bochum. Since we don't know yet which room we will be assigned, we
will make sure that there will be signs leading the way.

The Install-a-thon is a chance for interested folks to get one of the
free UN*X-clones installed on their hardware by experienced users (or
to try it on their own). The following operating systems will be
available for installation:

- OpenBSD 2.3 for all supported platforms
- OpenBSD 2.4 for x86, Sparc and Alpha AXP
- FreeBSD 2.2.8 and 3.1 for x86
- NetBSD 1.3.3 for all supported platforms
- Red Hat Linux 5.2 for x86
- Debian 2.1 for x86
- Linux Mandrake (for x86)

In addition we will provide installation media for Free SCO OpenServer
5.0.4 and Free SCO UnixWare (2.1.x and maybe 7.x) if enough people are
interested. If you would like to install one of the latter ones,
please contact us in advance. Of course we will be happy to help you
install distributions you bring with you (e.g. SuSE Linux). For
problems and applications that are beyond a "normal" installation
(e.g. connecting to your isp, installing a webserver etc.) just ask
one of our experienced administrators around. And if you just want to
have a look at FreeBSD, Linux or one of the other operating systems we
will show there, or if you want get a look at one of the commercial
applications (like Star Office, ApplixWare, Oracle, ...), you are
welcome to chat about it while enjoying a Jolt.
