      <p>IPv6 wird seit mehr als 10 Jahren von &os; unterstützt (die erste
        &os;-Version mit standardmäßig aktivierter
        IPv6-Unterstützung war &os; 4.0-RELEASE, das im Jahre 2000
        veröffentlicht wurde. Diese Seite beschreibt den aktuellen
        Stand der IPv6-Unterstützung unter &os; und bietet zusätzlich
        Informationen zum "IPv6 World Day 2011".</p>

        <li><b>9. Juni 2011</b>: Wir bedanken uns bei allen Teilnehmern des
          World IPv6 Days. IPv6-Statistiken für <a
          href="&enbase;">www.FreeBSD.org</a> für den Zeitraum von 12
          Stunden vor und nach diesem Ereignis sind ab sofort <a
          href="&enbase;/ipv6/w6d-www-stats.html">verfügbar</a>.

        <li><b>7. Juni 2011</b>: Aktualisierte reine IPv6-Snapshots wurden
          bereitgestellt. Neu ist die Unterstützung von "RFC 6106 DNS
          Suchlisten und Nameserver" in &man.rtsol.8; und &man.rtsold.8;
          bereits während der Installation. Weitere Informationen zu

      <h2>IPv6 unter &os;</h2>

      <p>&os; ist ein weit verbreitetes Open Source-Betriebssystem, dessen
        Netwerk-Stack die Grundlage für jahrezehntelange Forschung bildet
        und der auch als Basis für die IPv6-Referenzimplementierung (die
        vom KAME-Projekt erstellt wurde)
        diente. &os; unterstützt IPv6 seit März 2000 (die
        erste &os;-Version mit IPv6-Unterstützung war <a
        href="&base;/releases/">4.0-RELEASE</a>.
      </p>

      <h2>IPv6 und das &os; Project</h2>

      <p>Das &os; Project hat sich von Anfang an an der Entwicklung von IPv6
        beteiligt. Durch die Hilfe der Community war es möglich,
        &os;-Releases ab Mai 2003 auch über IPv6 bereitzustellen.
        Die &os;-Webseiten, Mailinglisten sowie die Entwickler-Infrastruktur
        unterstützen IPv6 seit 2007.</p>

      <p>&os; wird oft in kritischen Bereichen der Internet-Infrastruktur,
        beispielsweise in Root-Nameservern, Routern und Firewalls eingesetzt.
        Einige der weltmeist größten und zuverlässigsten
        Internetseiten laufen ebenfalls unter &os;. Außerdem verwenden
        zahlreiche Hersteller von integrierten Produkten &os; als Basis, um
        die bestmögliche IPv6-Unterstützung anbieten zu können.
