Hallo Liste,
ich habe hier ein paar Fragen zu meinem 7.0-RELEASE auf einer
amd64-Maschine (dmesg siehe unten, [2]).
Nach meinem Umstieg (auf Solaris, beruflich bedingt ;-) bin ich wieder
in FreeBSD-Gefilden unterwegs; natürlich habe ich mir auch anderes
angeschaut (OpenSolaris, NetBSD, Fedora 8 und Debian Etch). Alles auf
dieser Maschine.
Nun zu den konkreten Fragen:
1) Unter allen anderen OS skaliert die Taktfrequenz (via PowerNow!)
ordentlich, d.h. wenn die Maschine nichts zu tun hat, geht sie auf
1000MHz herunter. Leider bekomme ich das unter FreeBSD nicht hin.
Nachdem FreeBSD auf meinem ThinkPad (A22p, ein altes mit Mobile
Pentium 3) mit powerd(8) wunderbar funktionierte, probierte ich dies
natürlich auch hier aus, mit dem Ergebnis, daß die CPU
heruntergetaktet wird, aber es zuverlässig früher oder später das
System crasht -- egal, ob idle oder nach acht Stunden ports bauen.
Irgendwann friert die Maschine ein und resettet.
Ich habe mir einen Debug-Kernel gebaut, aber es noch nicht wieder
'drauf angelegt' (sprich: die CPU powert die ganze Zeit mit 2,2GHz),
da ich vorher einiges an Daten doch noch gerne in Sicherheit bringen
möchte. fsck hat einiges zu tun (250GB und 500GB HDs)...

Der dmesg steht wie gesagt unten (verbose). Irgendeine Idee? Unter den
anderen OS läuft die Maschine zuverlässig *und* skaliert den Takt. Der
Speicher kann es nicht sein, denn ohne powerd(8) läuft sie zuverlässig
(und es ist ECC RAM).
2) Ich bekomme aus der Maschine keinen Pieps; soweit ich das sehe, ist
im dmesg auch keinerlei Audio-Hardware anzutreffen. Laut Asus hat mein
Board (m2npv-vm) folgendes an Bord:
Audio: ADI AD1986A High Definition Audio 5.1 Channel CODEC
Support Jack-Sensing and S/PDIF out interface
Unter Fedora 8 e.g. läuft Audio out-of-the-box (wahrscheinlich ein
fetter Blob)...
Gibt's für den ADI AD1986A überhaupt einen Treiber unter FreeBSD?
