Nö, das funktioniert exakt genauso. Ich hatte in obigem
Test mein Home statt /usr/local genommen, weil ich in
letzterem nicht rumpfuschen wollte, nur um Dir nochmal
die Ausgabe von »man -d« zu präsentieren.

Es funktioniert aber mit /usr/local definitiv genauso;
ich hatte das vorher schonmal probiert.

Sieht OK aus. Gemäß dieser PATH-Reihenfolge wird
manpath(1) zuerst Dein Home, dann /usr/share/man,
dann /usr/local/man nehmen.
