Das ist 'ne FAQ und steht daher in der FAQ. ;-)

Eine weitere mögliche Ursache, die leider nicht in der FAQ
steht, ist, daß man seinen Kernel ge-stript(1)t hat. Das
sollte man besser nicht tun.
