To many open files in system

Hallo,

bekomme folgende Fehlermeldung:
/kernel: file: table is full
syslogd: /var/run/utmp: Too many open files in system

System:
FreeBSD 4.5 + X + WindowMaker

Woran kann das liegen? Hatte solche Meldung vorher nicht.
