Huch, "Number of batteries: 0" kommt mir seltsam vor.
Oder hast Du da wirklich keinen Akku drin?
Zum Vergleich die Ausgabe bei mir (läuft gerade an
der Steckdose, nicht auf Akku):

  Remaining battery life: 100%
  Remaining battery time: unknown
  Number of batteries: 1
  Battery 0:
          Battery status: charging
          Remaining battery life: 100%

  APM Capacities:
          global standby state
          global suspend state
          resume timer from standby
          resume timer from suspend

"shutdown -p" funktioniert bei mir -- auch wenn ich es
eigentlich nicht brauche. Den Ausschalter zu betätigen
ist sooo aufwendig nun auch wieder nicht. Das -p sehe
ich eher als Spielerei denn alls nützliches (oder gar
notwendiges) Feature an.

Bist Du sicher, daß bei Dir ein apmd läuft?
(Mit "ps" nachschauen.)
