...das sollte mit ``ifconfig mediatype <mediatype>'' gehen - die zulässigen
findest Du in xl(4) und für Dich dürfte

 The xl driver supports the following media types:

     100baseTX Set 100Mbps (fast ethernet) operation. The mediaopt
                           option can abso be used to select either full-
                           duplex or half-duplex modes.

``ifconfig xl<n> mediatype 100basetx mediaopts fullduplex'' stellt also
100 MBit/s voll-duplex ein. Das solltest Du in die Interface-Konfiguration
in /etc/rc.conf mit dazu schreiben und von da an Ruhe haben.
