Cannot connect to ftp

Hallo,
I try to connect via FireFox
with FireFTP - The Free FTP Client for Mozilla Firefox

anonymously to

ftp://ftp.de.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/

this address I got from
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/handbook/mirrors-ftp.html

... on neither ftp-site listed a connection is possible

Are they "dead" or am I doing something wrong?

(with fpt from Apple or Microsoft ... no problem)
